The State Bank of India [SBI] has issued an advisory to its customers. The largest country’s bank is asking its debit card users to switch to EMV-chip based by December 31, 2019. In case of non-compliance the bank will be deactivating all magnetic stripe cards. Here’s everything you need to know about deactivation of these cards and more information.

State Bank Of India {SBI} will be deactivating the cards even if their validity period remains.This means all SBI Debit Card even the cards whose expiry date is beyond 31 December will be deactivated. State Bank of India is deactivating these cards due to the ‘continuing frauds’ on them. EMV Chip technology is the latest global standard for debit card payments.
